Sweetpea, new table & driveway mystery

Marci Gave Callie this Sweetpea and she's really been loving on it lately. The nurses called Callie 'Sweetpea' while we were in the hospital and the nickname kind of stuck, we also call her 'pooper' though...

Here is our new table! It's nice and high, which they call 'pub style' and we like it because:
1) It's black.
2) It has what they call a 'butterfly leave', it stores itself under the table so you no longer have to spread out throughout the house in search for the leave that Mom put somewhere, probably under something too heavy to be moved.
3) We got 2 barstools and 4 barstools with backs (apparently when you buy a table that's 'pub style', the chairs are called barstools no matter what style they are).
4) Getting down from the table is a lot easier than getting up from one.
5) It hides our useless fireplace perfectly!

I found a stapled piece of yellow paper in the driveway. It was a piece of granite inside an advertisment, who woulda thought? Of all the things I thought it could be, granite was not one of them. Clever.

Vegas Baby!

We headed to Vegas Friday afternoon and experienced the craziness that is LA traffic to Vegas. It was crazy, we probably averaged 85mph just going with the flow of traffic and had to be super cautious to avoid some crazies and their cars. It was a little stressful, but we made it safe and sound and had an awesome time. We stayed with our college friend Mike Pontin and his fiance and they showed us a great time.

Doctor Visit

The new doctor was nice and informative but Callie needed 4 shots. It was hard for me, I always get teary eyed when my babies get shots. She handled them well though, just a bit of crying and then she was fussy and sleepy for the next day or so. Callie's a whopping 15 pounds and change and Evan's still at 40, he's been this weight for a while... he's getting skinnier and taller! We're enjoying the pleasant weather and have plans for this weekend and next weekend we're off to visit our friend Mike and his fiance in Las Vegas. It will be a four day weekend since next Friday is flex and Monday is Killumbus Day.

Some of you may remember or have a similar picture this featuring Evan. We found the same toy at K-Mart and had to have it since Evan loved it so much!

Callie has an unusual laugh, see for yourself!

Leg-warmers!

Instructions for baby leg-warmers: Take awesome socks and cut them at the heel. I just so happened to have these socks, and since all I wear is flip-flops, they met the scissors.

We're going to a BBQ on base with Gareth's fellow ESDP's and this is what Callie's wearing, it was a babyshower gift from my friend Magen. Of course she's already slobbered all over it but that's nothing new!

Evan trying on Dad's shorts... he still has a bit to grow.

Callie found her feet! She loves playing with them!

Huh?!?

My babies! Trying to get more pictures of them together... As you can see, Callie's becoming quite the chunk and Evan's thinning out! They both have Dr. appts on Monday so we'll have all their stats and I'll keep ya'll posted.

Callie Talk

Bald Mountain

Callie had her first trip in the backpack and did well, she enjoyed being able to see everything while Dad walked. It was a short little hike, but nice and we climbed the fire lookout at the top and that's where the pictures were taken. I finally got my hair cut! It feels great and looks pretty good too.

Weekend Adventure

This weekend we went up to Bishop, which is by Mammoth, and went for a hike. The actual town of Bishop seemed really cool and we'll probably check it out more when we get back up there. Callie did awesome in the car, and so did Evan. When Callie starts fussing, Evan tries to calm her down and it's real cute. The 4 mile hike felt great! My buddy Christina and I are going to start working out at the gym on base so I'm excited!

Ouchie.

:( I broke my toe. It's feeling a lot better, it just doesn't look like it.

I've been a social butterfly. Went out to dinner with two other Moms I've met and had an awesome time Thursday. I met another Mom for coffee this morning and will meet with her again on Wednesday. Her husband is also an engineer on base so that's cool.

Here are some good looking kids.

august

It's nearing mid-august here and we are settling in to our new home. The weather has been beautiful, the sunsets are georgeous, and my tan in awesome.

Callie is just like her brother, she likes to eat and she's always trying to move. She's not even 4 months old and not only can she roll over, but she can scoot herself around on both her tummy and back using her legs. I'll put her in the crib one way and return to find her on the other side. She is a very serious baby, she smiles and talks, but has yet to giggle despite my very best efforts. She thinks I'm rediculous.

Evan is now 4 and as active as ever! He is enjoying his new school and so am I. If all goes well with Callie, I can usually get all my work in by the time I pick him up at noon. He is still enjoying all his birthday toys and playing outside our new house.
Gareth started his job August 6th and is enjoying it. He really likes the people he's working with and is searching for interesting tours to work on. He'll line up several tours and be able to work on various projects. I'm still able to work for WSU and I'm thankful for that, it will help us out a lot. Someday, when Callie's older, I'll venture out to the real work world but I'm lucky to be able to experience everything that Callie does just like I did with Evan.
I wanted another way of communication with friends and family and hopefully I'll be good at keeping this updated with pictures and literature.
